Caregiver
Job Description:
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Caregiver is responsible for providing non-medical home service(s) /care to individuals/seniors and others who require services/care and resources in their own homes.
SCOPE The Caregiver provides individualized services/care and resources to seniors, disabled and others so that they may continue to live in their homes and in the community. Home care may include transportation, house cleaning, personal hygiene, preparing meals, companionship, spiritual encouragement and other home, health and wellness related activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES Main Activities:
¨ provide non-medical home care services to seniors, disabled individuals, and others in the community with identified needs
provide non-medical home care services including general housekeeping companionship, personal care, chores and respite care
transport clients to appointments and activities
medication reminding
meal preparation
organize time and resources based on the individual needs of clients
manage any unanticipated events or unstable situations
perform other related duties as required
observe and report any change in client’s
Job Requirements:
Knowledge The Caregiver requires knowledge of: proper home care techniques including house keeping, meal preparation, ambulation, personal care, money management, infection control and health and safety regulations (training will be provided for ambulation, infection control and health and safety regulations) appropriate home care interventions (training will be provided)
First aid and CPR (training will be provided)
all relevant legislation, policies and procedures (training will be provided)
services and resources in the community (training will be provided) Skills The Caregiver must demonstrate the following skills:
